Wine Tasting in Temecula Valley Wine County

Temecula, CA, USA

"Wine to me is something that brings people together. Wine does promote conversation and promote civility, but it's also fascinating. It's the greatest subject to study. No matter how much you learn, every vintage is going to come at you with different factors that make you have to think again." - Robert M. Parker, Jr.

I was really excited because of it was my first time doing a wine tasting. It's interesting to see that different part of the world always has different things to offer. Some of Tyler's friends rented an Airbnb the night before in Temecula, but since Tyler's place is very close to Temecula we drove there the next day. The group event organizer said it was $85 per person for the limousine ride and visit three wineries: Wilson Creek, Monte De Oro, and Callaway. Per-stop was about 5-6 tastings. At first I was surprised how it is pretty pricey because I have been looking up online and the price should be way less than that.

Wilson Creek Winery

Wilson creek has a huge vineyard with an open space courtyard and plenty of seatings. We got 5 tasting tickets and you also get to keep the wine glass. Any wines under "Reserve wine" or "specialty drinks" will cost 2 tasting tickets. I loved the Almond sparkling wine and the Peach Bellini sparkling wine. The '16 Muscat and White cabernet sauvignon were also good.

Monte De Oro

Callaway Winery

The property is my most favorite! They have a long list of wines from dry reds and whites to sweet (moscato, zin, rosรจ) since it was a hot and summer we tried all the sweets and it was really awesome.

Pechanga Resort & Casino

Since we were already in Temecula. Tyler's friends wanted to go to Pechanga Resort & Casino. It supposed to be the largest casino in California. I never been to casino before, the only one I saw was in Singapore when I was still underage so I was pretty amazed by the slot machines. We headed to Umi because for late dinner then Tyler showed me how to play Black Jack.

  8. A resident of Temecula recommended Wilson Creek winery to me. I had to stop by to see this beautiful place plus sample some of the flavored champagne. I especially liked the coconut flavored champagne. Lovely place to visit with nice grounds for eating a picnic lunch outside. Reasonable prices on the flavored champagne. A pleasant change from just tasting wine.

  11. Oh, these photos... they remind me so much of the long weekends hubby and I used to take to drive up to Napa Valley when we lived in L.A. I loved those winery visits. Some of the neatest people we met worked at the vineyards. We never made it out to Temecula, but that's definitely on the list when we go back.

  12. Many years ago I went to Santa Barbara for wine tasting, and it was in August and hot. I like that you were able to experience a casino as well. The pictures look like an enjoyable time and the limousine ride makes it a cool experience.

I agree that the Callaway Winery is the best, my assumption based on the photos. The cafe set up on the outset of the vineyards is so picturesque and has a calming effect.

Was there any issue with flying insects? The food photos are appealing.
